Berks Filmmakers' mission is to foster, in our underserved region, the maintenance and development of a marginalized art form, experimental moving image art, both its production (by members who are nationally/internationally known film/video artists) and its appreciation (through quality rental programs, in-person shows and symposia). We believe it is our primary responsibility to provide both artist and audience with continued access to our innovative facility which is one of the few remaining national centers dedicated to consistently showcasing personal, visionary, experimental moving image art. Additionally, we view artistic expression as a fundamental bridge for potentially unifying diverse cultural heritages as expressions of human consciousness (regardless of race, gender, ethnocentricity) while at the same time preserving the unique identity of each individual=s cultural heritage.
